Yahoo Paid Inclusion – Kaput, Fini – to end

I have used Yahoo’s paid inclusion a few times with a pharmaceutical and electronics client and the electronics client did really well with this program. I would never say it was a great program for everyone, but for those that showed great amount of clicks in Yahoo with little conversions, I felt this was a good plan for those clients.

Now, I just learn that Yahoo’s Paid Inclusion Program is to end by end of year. That must have a lot to do with Yahoo’s organizational changes as well I am sure. In any case, I was planning on experimenting with PI in one of my Australian PPC campaign, but now it appears too late.

Yahoo Ambassador Program – Expiring Sept 08

Thanks Yahoo!

Back in 2006, I took and passed the Yahoo Ambassador certification – I contacted them numerous times to find out where my actual certification with the Yahoo letterhead was. I was told they were “processing” this in Europe somewhere – weird answer, but anyway here’s my logo, that according to Yahoo, I can still display..

The Yahoo! Ambassador program was specifically developed to help marketers drive sales leads to their clients. For the last four years, Yahoo! has made an effort to enhance the program to provide the greatest added value to our users. After a thorough evaluation of the program, we have decided to discontinue the program. The Ambassador Program, except for the limited use of the Ambassador Logo as noted below, shall be terminated as of September 30, 2008.

Yahoo adds Dynamic URL Rewrite tool

So, while I don’t talk enough about Yahoo, I figured I would this time around. Over the last month Yahoo has been nice enough to create what is know as a dynamic URL rewrite tool, in the event this is all very new to you, check out some Yahoo help

It is very straight forward, just let Yahoo know what parameters in your URLs you want to be ignored, then Yahoo will rewrite those while indexing your site to filter out uneeded parameters. It’s great for getting rid of all those tracking parameters and session IDs.

5 Simple easy steps:

  1. Login to Yahoo Site Explorer.
  2. Add your site to My Sites and then authenticate any sites that you own or manage.
  3. For any sites that you have authenticated, you’ll see a Dynamic URLs tab where you can enter parameters you want Yahoo to either remove from URLs or always crawl with a specific value.
  4. Once you enter the parameter, they’ll show you the # of URLs they estimate will be affected.
  5. After you confirm the action, they’ll modify their crawler so that every time they see a URL from your site with that parameter, they’ll automatically rewrite it within their system
