This post is more of an FYI to all SEOs. You can follow Live coverage at SMX West this week – for those of us who may have travel limitations, this is a great way to keep up to date on all SEO conference info from one of my favorite sites, search engine roundtable (Thanks Sri!)
So, while reading the live blogging, I noticed discussion around the new canonical tag which can be used to tell the Search Engines which URL it SHOULD have for the current page, read this in another great blog I would like to recommend - Yoast.com – very smart SEO info
Question: How live is it now?
Google: Yes
Yahoo: Working on it
Microsoft: Working on it (Doesn’t that figure
Enjoy and happy tagging!

So, one of the highlights I found this week, amongst many others, was the news that Google has sent us a bigger helping hand in the creation of XML sitemaps for our larger sites. I have since sent this helpful generator onto my dev team. I was in a tech meeting with my team this past week and they were asking if there was an easy application that could help with the creation of generating sitemaps for our 20+ international sites and I sent them this link.
One of the other cool things about this application is the fact that is a very smart application as well. Give it a try. I have so often encouraged my teams to create and upload an XML sitemap for the site. I have never experienced any negative indexing or any negative SEO whatsoever, in fact, what had happened was a huge increase in the number of pages indexed over a very short period of time.
So why are so many so reluctant? Who knows, there are so many SEO heads out there who proclaim to say one thing and do another, or think that something as simple as this must not possibly work, but it does. Not sure if you have seen this recent survey from within Sphinn on whether sitemaps actually help get things indexed faster and without a doubt an overwhelming number of voters agreed that the sitemaps are aiding in pages indexed in Google.
If you haven’t done this yet for your site, why not give it a shot? Run a baseline before you upload the sitemap and then within 30, 60 and 90 days following see what you find, my guess is you should see some very cool results!

Since I generally have an opinnion on most things, I figured I would share mine with you about Chrome. After using this browser for a couple of weeks now my overall opinion is “ok it’s not bad” .
I like that it was built from the ground up, if one tab isn’t working the entire browser doesn’t go to hell. You also have to really like the security features

Just thought I would share this – Since I use my iGoogle religiously, I thought I would share something very cool with all of you. You can now add your webmaster tools to your iGoogle page.
1. Visit Webmaster Tools and select any site that you’ve validated from the dashboard.
2. Click on the Tools section.
3. Click on Gadgets sub-section.
4. Click on the big “Add an iGoogle Webmaster Tools homepage” button.
5. Click the “Add to Google” button on the following confirm page to add the new tab to iGoogle.
6. Now you’re in iGoogle, where you should see your new Google Webmaster Tools tab with a number of Gadgets.
Enjoy!
