Kaushik Speaks – Smart Analytics

I have a few top leaders in the industry I enjoy following. One of those is Avinash Kaushik. He is brilliant when it comes to analytics, what to look at and why. As far as I’m concerned there is no other leader in analytics, it’s Avinash all the way!He just wrote a brilliant commentary on his professional manifesto. It’s a great read!  One of my favorite lines, very true – “ If your budget is $100 then spend $10 on tools and professional services to implement them, and spend $90 on hiring people to analyze data you collect on your website.” I could not agree with you more!

SEO for Developers – Technical SEO

In putting together a brief meeting for my development team this week, I came across some really helpful information from SMX Advanced – Janeandrobot’s Vanessa Fox.Vanessa has listed three really helpful short lists that every team should print and review and every in-house SEO should have when speaking to those who implement your recommendations.

• Discovery Checklist - includes page discovery and accessibility
•  Accessibility Checklist - on page assessment, URL structure and external link assesment
•  User Conversion Checklist - Turning searchers into customers – brief, but a good start to thinking about landing page optimization, which as far as I’m concerned, should be in every SEOs plan.
• Great presentation as well to download and share - tools and tactics for diagnosing technical search issues  - from her Search Developer Summit back in June.
