Google Trends & MSN’s AdCenter Labs
June 20, 2008
Free Internet Marketing Data – Probably the most underutilized source of information about competitive behavior to date.
Google’s Trends reports enter in one or more search phrases and Google will indicate the total number of times the phrases have appeared in stories in Google’s News – also shows you the actual news story, as well as top regions, cities and languages for the search phrases you typed in. Shows some good data around a particular topic you might be considering for an area within your website.
As for Microsoft’s Ad Center Labs – they actually kicked this up a notch, since it’s inception – called ‘audience intelligence” > Demographics prediction — I entered in the same phrase “summer vacation” as I had for Google Trends and get some pretty interesting data, Gender and Age distribution –
“Demographic Prediction tool is helpful for advertisers to understand user demographic orientations before they bid their keywords. It thus enables demographic targeting” ..MSN
